Plinkit: Plone for Public Libraries

Rural and small libraries throughout the United States are strapped for resources. They are often underfunded and/or understaffed. Hosting, creating, or maintaining websites that patrons find useful is often just not possible for the libraries that need it most to reach remote patrons.

Plinkit (Public Libraries INterface KIT) provides pre-built, dynamic Plone-based websites for small and rural public libraries in four states (Oregon, Texas, Colorado, and Illinois). Plinkit sites are hosted and supported for free and library staff receive free training and documentation specific to Plinkit.

By selecting key Plone Products, creating and organizing content, and leveraging best practices, small libraries that wouldn't otherwise have a website (or would have small, static, and/or poorly maintained websites) now have an informative, dynamic, and easy-to-maintain site
